BIG OIL & GAS love us
More bogus industry smoke and mirrors sleight of hand .....
Why is it whenever we try to take a closer look at the "facts" presented by this member?
Same bag of tricks over and over. The "report" this article is supposedly "based" on?
Try to open the link yourself .... FROM THE ARTICLE: The report can be found at: http://www.pepanz.org.nz/newsDocument/TRC%20Report%20Fracking%20and%20Seismicity.pdf Somehow, we always end up with something like this from the official "report"? "The page cannot be found .."
The page cannot be found .....
Makes it look like when the Industry was setting up this bogus story they forgot to link it to the bogus report that supports their bogus "conclusions" ....
Yep. This is what we have come to expect from this member.

CREDIBILITY:
Taranaki Regional Council
GNS Science
From wiki:
"GNS Science was known as the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences from 1992 to 2005. Originally part of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), it was established as an independent organisation when the Crown Research Institutes were created in 1992.[1] As part of that process, GNS Science was semi-COMMERCIALISED, and now operates as a government-owned company rather than as a government department. This change led to greater autonomy, accompanied BY GREATER EMPHASIS ON FINANCIAL VIABILITY. This is essential in the corporate environment, especially for the purchase and maintenance of research equipment and infrastructure, because the New Zealand public science funding system doesn't normally provide grants for these purposes.
As well as undertaking basic research, and operating the national geological hazards monitoring network,[2] GNS Science is employed, both in New Zealand and overseas, by various private groups (NOTABLY ENERGY COMPANIES), as well as central and local government agencies, to provide scientific advice and information."
-----
Again, CREDIBILITY.
Why is it that 'one' university study is credible (e.g. this report by GNS) while another is not credible (e.g. a report by Cornell University)?
Why is that?

“This report brings scientific objectivity to this topic which has often been based on poor information and an understandable lack of knowledge about earth processes."
This assessment was independently peer reviewed by the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences.
"This report comes on the back of the Council’s previous review of hydraulic fracturing data where the findings of the assessment show that, if managed and regulated according to good practice, there is no credible risk to shallow groundwater aquifers in the region."

Fracking may not cause earthquakes (from this report and paid for by PEPA!) but it just might mess with the surface and ground water quality. Oil and natural gas fracking can use strange chemicals and pollutants. Injecting fracking waste water into the earth can induce earthquakes as well (that Ohio fracking and earthquake report a while back?). After the fracking is over, the fracking companies move on and are nowhere to be found. Then what? This article is slanted towards the oil and natural gas companies. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using ‘other’ forms of transportation to help lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

I will believe it when the study is done by an independent organization or the USGS. This reeks of a corporate sponsored "study."

“GNS said it is scientifically inconceivable that a damaging earthquake could be caused by hydraulic fracturing in Taranaki”.
isn't that a strange statement? scientifically inconceivable... meaning, in theory?
should they not say scientifically PROVEN to not cause earthquakes by hydraulic fracking...?

Anyone that thinks that fracking can or does cause earthquakes probably thinks the sky is falling too. Study and read please.

What a shocker ... NOT!
Ummmm, julesTN, we've had PLENTY of earthquakes here in Ohio. We just don't whine and cry for someone to pity us every time it happens.

To the greenies this is like Green Peace's campaign against the killing of baby seals.
Facts never get in the way of an agenda and are malleable matter forged to fit their propaganda.
Let the greenies walk. Let them freeze. Let them go broke. Let them go first.
Green is red.

Great news! I do think it's the truth that fracking isn't causing earthquakes. What a shame it is that scientists aren't to be believed anymore; people only trust the ones saying what they want to hear. What ever happened to honor and objectivity?? God bless those who retain it!

I'm not surprised. . . we don't have earthquakes from building roads either - and that often requires dynamite.
